Rim Shadow

In this Sedona home, we wanted to create a space that wouldn’t compete with these incredible red rock views while also being a showpiece on its own. Our clients really valued symmetry, so we leaned into the clean, vertical lines of rift-cut white oak*. The beauty of this specific grain is how consistent and calm it feels—it allowed us to keep the layout perfectly balanced without the wood feeling too rambunctious or busy.

The White Oak was paired with a dark, high-contrast tops and minimalist hardware to nail that Desert Modern look. The end result is a kitchen that feels architecturally sharp but still has enough warmth for long talks with wine and friends. Again, it’s all about using the right materials to solve the puzzle of the space. We love this stuff!

*Rift-cut white oak is milled at a 90-degree angle to the tree's growth rings, resulting in the straight, 'comb' grain seen here—perfect for maintaining vertical (or horizontal) symmetry across large cabinet elevations.
